Description of the flag

A white-field flag with a map image of Iran and the slogan: "#168 Minab", which is the "Shajareh Tayyebeh Elementary School" in Minab, Hormozgan province, Iran. The hoist is at the right side. The city of Minab is located about 1,200km southeast of Tehran. On February 28, 2026, a U.S. military airstrike of two Tomahawk missiles hit this school, killing more that 150 people including 123 children. This flag appeared later at a memorial service, possibly on the 40th day of the students' martyrdom ("shehadat") as a martyr ("shahid"). The map image is composed of green/grey/red stylized butterflies. "Red butterflies are used in public memorials to symbolize children and students whose lives were cut short by violence or military strikes. For example, art installations-such as thousands of red butterflies placed across the ruins of a bombed elementary school in Minab-represent the spirits and ascension of young victims. In this artistic and cultural expression, the delicate, soaring butterfly serves as a poignant symbol of innocent souls rising" per https://www.instagram.com/reel/DW6wmCvDHcw/
