The Baltimore Sailing Club of Baltimore, Co. Cork in the South of Ireland was founded in the 1950s (exact year uncertain, for practical reasons 1952 is maintained), at first as a move to help the local boat industry. Family oriented, BSC counts about 200 members. Much of the club’s website is restricted to members: http://m.baltimore-sailing-club.com but luckily the burgee is shown – as a drawing – and there is a pointer to a characteristic design element as well.

Horizontally divided light blue above black, near the hoist a stylized rendition of a local monument, the Baltimore Beacon, vertically divided white and red.

A variant flag, a swallowtail with straight edges, may be seen here: http://www.burgees.com/BGroupBa-Bd.htm, function or status unknown.

Information about the Beacon, photo about halfway down: http://www.irelandbyways.com/ireland-routes/byroute-1-coastal/byroute-1-co-cork-west-co-kerry-south/9

“The Baltimore Beacon / Lot’s Wife, one of the most notable navigational landmarks on this magnificent coastline, was constructed c.1799. This large stone structure resembling an inverted milk bottle symbolises Baltimore for many homecoming...”

and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baltimore_Beacon.

The white-and-red colours may refer to the county sports colours.
