The Gaelbhratach (English: Irish flag) is an incentive scheme that supports
schools wishing to promote the use of the Irish language. It was established in
response to the need to create natural opportunities to speak Irish outside of
the formal classroom setting. The scheme officially began in the 2012/13 school
year at primary level and at secondary level the following year.
