Flag of Novi Golubovec

The symbols of Novi Golubovec are prescribed by Decision Odluka o grbu i zastavi Općine Novi Golubovec, adopted on 25 October 2002 by the Municipality Assembly and published on 18 November 2002 in the County official gazette Službeni glasnik Krapinsko-zagorske županije, No. 15.
The Municipality Status Status Općine Novi Golubovec, adopted on 25 January 2006 and published on 1 February 2006 in Službeni glasnik Krapinsko-zagorske županije, No. 2, introduce the description of the symbols.
This is repeated in the current Municipality Statutes Statut Općine Novi Golubovec, adopted on 10 July 2009 and published on 20 July 2009 in Službeni glasnik Krapinsko-zagorske županije, No. 15 (text).

The symbols were designed by the Heraldic Art d.o.o. company, from Rijeka.
The process of adoption of the symbols was announced by Decision Odluka o pristupanju izradi grba i zastave Općine Novi Golubovec, adopted on 5 March 1999 and published on April 1999 in Službeni glasnik Krapinsko-zagorske županije, No. 5.

The flag is in proportions 1:2, yellow with the coat of arms in the middle.

The coat of arms is: "Vert a dove displayed argent in base two miner's hammers sable in saltire". The dove (in Croatian, golub, more correctly "a pigeon") makes the arms canting and the two hammers remind the coal mines that brought prosperity to Golubovec until closed more than 30 years ago.

The ceremonial flag, not mentioned in the Decision, which is not unusual, is a yellow gonfanon with three rectangular tails containing green oak ornaments, the coat of arms in the middle and the name of the municipality in green letters above. The use of green for lettering is quite unexpected, but matches the design nicely.
