Flag of Draganić

The symbols of Draganić are prescribed by Decision Odluka o grbu i zastavi općine Draganić, adopted on 9 June 2011 by the Municipality Assembly and published on 14 June 2011 in the County official gazette Glasnik Karlovačke županije, No. 22, superseding the 1996 Decision prescribing the former symbols. The "new" symbols are indeed a new graphic representation of gthe former symbols. The final Article of the Decision states that it shall be in effect after having obtained approval from the Ministry, which may be still pending.
The flag (but not the coat of arms) is described in Article 4-5 of the Municipality Statutes Statut Općine Draganić, adopted on 25 March 2013 and published on 12 April 2013 in Glasnik Karlovačke županije, No. 18 (text).

The flag is described in Article 6 of the Decision as follows:

The flag is of a single colour, red, with a ratio of length to width of 2:1, in accordance with the legal prescriptions.
In the middle of the flag at the crossing point of the diagonals is the coat of arms of the Municipality, printed on both sides, edged with a golden/yellow ribbon.

The coat of arms of Draganić in a blue shield is a golden stand overhanging the golden triangle, with the base above, accompanied on the right by a golden six-pointed star, on the left by a silver crescent moon. The coat of arms appears as early as 1519 in the seal of the Noble Municipality of Draganićka, and after that it can be traced continuously throughout history. The stand or the base of the table (or chair) symbolizes the place of decision-making of free Draganić citizens. The triangular figure refers to God’s providence.

The former symbols of Draganić were prescribed by Decision Odluka o grbu i zastavi općine Draganić, adopted on 12 April 1996 and published on 16 April 1996 in Glasnik Karlovačke županije, No. 8. This was amended by Decision Odluka o izmjeni i dopuni Odluke o grbu i zastavi općine Draganić, adopted on 6 April 1998 and published on 4 May 1998 in Glasnik Karlovačke županije, No. 8, changing a minor point regarding the flag hoisting procedure.
The flag (but not the coat of arms) is described in Articles 8-10 of the Municipality Statutes Statut Općine Draganić, adopted on 10 July 2009 and published on 13 July 2009 in Glasnik Karlovačke županije, No. 21.

The flag is described in Article 4 of the Decision as follows:

The flag is made with a ratio of length to width of 2:1, (bloody) red. In the middle is the coat of arms of the Municipality of Draganić edged with golden outline, as wide as the basic area of the postament. The size of the whole coat of arms, including the outline, is 2/3 of the flag's height.

The coat of arms is described in Article 1 of the Decision as the historical coat of arms of Draganić and described in Article 2 as follows:

The coat of arms, in a blue shield, is composed of symmetrically distributed charges:
- the central figure - a stylized table with chairs represents the decision-making place described in the documents, coloured golden yellow;
- on the (heraldic) right side is a six-pointed rosette coloured silver with six rays and circular ends:
- on the (heraldic) left side is a silver crescent.
All the charges and the historical shield are of certain shapes, colours and arrangements, and are proportional to one another in sizes derived from the original seals.
The original is preserved in the Croatian State Archives and in the Municipality of Draganić.

According to the designer of the coat of arms, Stjepan Bahorić (U potrazi za dokazima opstojnosti, unsourced, undated), such a coat of arms already appeared in the seal of a noble community of Draganić dated 1519, and can be afterwards traced in a number of documents throughout the history. The seat is a symbol of a place of decision-making of a community of free citizens. The triangular shape stands for the divine providence.
