The Municipality of Hercegovac (2,791 inhabitants according to the 2011 census, 1,267 living in the village of Hercegovac) is located 40 km south-east of Bjelovar.

Flag of Hercegovac

The symbols of Hercegovac are prescribed by Decision Odluka o grbu i zastavi Općine Hercegovac, adopted on 23 December 1997 by the Municipality Council and published in the Municipality official gazette Službeni glasnik Općine Hercegovac.
The symbols are described in the Municipality Statutes Statut Općine Hercegovac, adopted on 13 July 2009 by the Municipality Assembly and publihsed in 2009 in Službeni glasnik Općine Hercegovac.

The symbols, designed by the Heraldic Art d.o.o. company, from Rijeka, were approved on 11 June 1998 by the Ministry of Administration.

The flag is described in Article 8 of the Decision, as follows:

The flag of the Municipality of Hercegovac is monocoloured, green. In the centre of the flag at the crossing point of diagonals is the coat of arms of the Municipality of Hercegovac - on both sides, edged awith golden-yellow ribbon. The ratio of length to width of the flag is 2:1.

The coat of arms is described in Article 4 of the Decision, as follows:

The coat of arms of the Municipality of Hercegovac is in the shape of a semi-circular shield coloured green; in the centre is a potato flower - silver (white) petals, yellow (golden) seeds.
