The municipality of Peristeri (lit., "a dove"; 139,981 inhabitants in 2011, therefore the 7th largest municipality in Greece by population; 1,050 ha) is a suburban municipality in the north-western part of the Athens agglomeration. Peristeri is located about 4 km northwest of the centre of Athens, between the Egaleo Mountain in the north-west and the Cephissus river in the south-east. Peristeri is served by three Athens metro stations on Line 2.
The municipality was not changed with the 2011 local government reform.
