Monclar-de-Quercy (2,039 inhabitants, 3,775 ha) is a commune in the Tarn-et-Garonne department.

The history of this village begins in 587, during the reign of Queen Brunhilde, when the Treaty of Andelot established peace between the kingdoms of Austrasia and Burgundy. The Count of Aurillac possessed this lordship in 1009. The castrum was conquered in 1176 by the Counts of Toulouse from the Trencavels. The last followers of the Cathar heresy came to hide there in 1312. On September 10, 1532, Monclar, hostile to the League, was stormed by the Duke of Joyeuse; the town and castle were burned. During the French Revolution, the castle was destroyed and the church sacked. It was not until 1880 that the latter was rebuilt.

Monclar was connected to Montauban in 1920 by a departmental railway, which was closed in 1932. In 1940, Raoul Magrin-Vernerey, enlisting in the Free French Forces in London, chose "Monclar" as his nom de guerre, inspired by Monclar-de-Quercy. In 1974, Monclar acquired its three lakes, which today form the main attraction of its leisure center.

French vexillologist Pascal Vagnat reported a vertically divided blue and white flag (see: emblemes.free.fr) quoting these municipal council minutes (p14):

"During the deliberations of the municipal council on June 17, 2003, Mr. Lafon, President of the Heritage Commission, submitted the idea proposed by the Heritage Association to install a flag in the colors
of Monclar, blue and white, on a giant 12-meter pole on the hill of the castle. The flag was made by Mrs. Allasia. The Municipal Council granted a grant of 3,000 euros to the Heritage Association to help it
with all these acquisitions."

In 2013, on flagpoles seen in the village (picture) there were only the flags of France, Beach quality blue flag, Station verte, euroflag.
In 2009 (picture), there were also the Occitan flag and an unidentifiable white flag with green logo (maybe the logo of Tarn-et-Garonne department ?).
