The municipality of Revigny-sur-Ornain (2,807 inhabitants in 2018; 1,932 ha) is located 20 km north-west of Bar-le-Duc.

River Ornain feeds two canals in the village, the old, Ornain canal, in the north, and the smaller, Martin canal in the center. To the south of the village, the Marne to Rhine canal, commissioned in 1853 following an east-west line, comprisines six locks on the territory of the municipality.
The village of Revigny-sur-Ornain was completely destroyed during the First World War.

The flag of Revigny-sur-Ornain (photo) is a white with the municipal logo.
The motto features a pun on the hill-shaped letter "R" for "Revigny", pronunced in French like the word air; l'R du temps / l'air du temps means "in tune with the times".
