Presentation of Es Migjorn Gran

The municipality of Es Migjorn Gran (lit., The Great South; 1,356 inhabitants in 2017, 3,120 ha) is located in the south of Minorca. The youngest municipality of Menorca, Es Migjorn Gran was established in 1989, separating from Es Mercadal and changing its name from Sant Cristófol (Spanish, San Cristobal), originally a small settlement founded by rural workers in the 17th century.
