Symbols of Canillas de Albaida

The flag of Canillas de Albaida, yet to be officially registered, is green with a yellow descending diagonal stripe, charged in the center with the municipal coat of arms.
Green represents Andalusia and the Parque Natural de las Sierras de Tejeda, Almijara y Alhama, which covers 60% of the municipal territory. White represents the white villages of the Axarquía region, being also the second color of the flag of Andalusia. Yellow is the color of the flower of albaida.

albaida (Arab, "yellow"; Anthyllis cytisoides L.), is a shrub endemic to the Mediterranean Basin and South Africa. It is found in North Africa and on the eastern coast of Spain, from Catalonia to Andalusia, and in the Balearic Islands.
albaida is a melliferous plant - albaida monoflower honey is highly prized in the region of Almería, only outprized by orange and rosemary honey. Growing on dry and stony soils, albaida is also a significant source of forage for cattle. albaida is also used as traditional medicinal plant.
