Presentation of Moraleja de Enmedio

The municipality of Moraleja de Enmedio (5,032 inhabitants in 2014; 3,100 ha; municipal website) is located in the south of the Community of Madrid.

Moraleja de Enmedio was first documented in La Bolsilla, a document used in the 12th century by the Council of Segovia in territorial lawsuits against the crown, and, subsequently, against Andrés de Cabrera. The document lists another two villages, Moraleja La Mayor and Moraleja de los Bruyeros; Moraleja de Enmedio was located in between these two villages, being known in the 16th century as Moraleja la de en medio (lit., "in the middle").
The Catholic Monarchs granted on 20 July 1480 the three Moraleja and other territories to Andrés de Cabrera, made Marquess of Moya, and to his wife Beatriz de Bobadilla. The Community of the Town and Land of Segovia opposed to the Marquess of Moya and their successors, the Counts of Chinchón, until a concord was eventually signed on 23 May 1593.

Symbols of Moraleja de Enmedio

The flag of Moraleja de Enmedio (photo, photos, photo, photo) is prescribed by a Decree adopted on 29 November 2001 by the Government of the Community of Madrid and published on 24 January 2002 in the official gazette of the Community of Madrid, No. 20, p. 9 (text), and on 19 March 2002 in the Spanish official gazette, No. 67, p. 11,291 (text). The flag, originally adopted on 15 June 2000 by the Municipal Council, was validated on 9 March 2001 and 8 October 2001 by the Heraldry Assessors and the Royal Academy of History, respectively.
The flag is described as follows:

Flag: In proportions 2:3. A red panel with a blue border, in width 1/6 of the panel's width. In the center is placed the crowned municipal coat of arms.

The Royal Academy of History validated the proposed flag "without any inconvenience".
[Boletín de la Real Academia de la Historia, 2001, 198:3, 567]

The coat of arms of Moraleja de Enmedio is prescribed by a Decree adopted on 27 February 1986 by the Government of the Community of Madrid and published on 22 March 1986 in the official gazette of the Community of Madrid, No. 69, p. 19 (text).
The coat of arms is described as follows:

Coat of arms: Per fess, 1. A mulberry vert fructed gules surrounded by two smaller trees, 2. Azure an aqueduct or masoned sable ensigned with a head proper. The shield surmounted by a Royal crown closed.

The mulberry [moral] makes the arms canting; the three trees must represent the three villages named Moraleja, Moraleja de Enmedio ("in between") being the only one still "alive" today.
The Roman aqueduct of Segovia recalls that Moraleja de Enmedio belonged to the Community of the Town and Land of Segovia.
