Schwabsoien Coat of Arms

Shield Azure a watermill wheel Argent, mantled Argent, at dexter charged with a sceptre fleury Gules, at sinister with a crozier Gules ending in a pine cone.
Meaning:
The millwheel is alluding to the name of the municipality, which is referring to a lake, which had run dry in 1589. The szeptre is alluding to the Benedictine St. Mang Monastery in Füssen. It ruled Sachsenried village, which was incorporated into Schwabsoien in 1978. In the arms of the monastery had been fleurs-de-lis. The crozier is representing the Bishopric of Augsburg, which had the local low level cognisance for centuries. In 1785 Schwabsoien was acquired by Bayern, represented by the tinctures white and blue, by a barter agreement. The pine cone is representing the Sachsenried Forest, which probably had been a part of the extended royal estate in Kaufbeuren.
