Oberthal Coat of Arms

Shield quartered, 1st quarter Gules two croziers Or in saltire, 2nd quarter Argent a lion rampant Azure armed and tongued Gules, 3rd quarter Or a bend Gules charged with three eaglets Argent, 4th quarter Azure a millwheel Argent.
Meaning:
The 1st quarter is representing Gronig, which had been a possession of the Tholey Abbey for a long time. The 2nd quarter displayss the lion of the Counts of Veldenz and is taken from the old arms of Steinberg-Deckenhardt. The 3rd quarter displays the arms of the Dukes of Lothringen and is representing Oberthal proper, which belonged to Lothringen for 500 years. The mill wheel in the 4th quarter is taken from the old arms of Güdesweiler.
