Thedinghausen Comprehensive Municipality

Description of flag: The ratio is 3:5. It is a horizontal 3-stripes flag: blue over yellow over blue with ratio 1:3:1, the coat of arms is in the centre of the yellow stripe. Please note that local Hauptsatzung doesn't mention any flag.

SG Thedinghausen Coat of Arms

Shield Azure with chief embattled Or, a lion rampant Or, armed and tongued Gules, surrounded by five 6-point stars Or. Meaning: The symbols of SG Thedinghausen are nearly the same as those of Thedinghausen. Just the number of stars in the shield had been diminished down to five. The five stars in the coat of arms of SG Thedinghausen probably are representing the municipalities Thedinghausen proper, Blender, Emtinghausen, Riede and Morsum. The latter probably never had proper symbols.

Thedinghausen was established on 1 April 1908, when the villages Bürgerei, Hagen and Westerwisch merged. The eight stars in the coat of arms probably are representing the villages of Dibbersen-Donnerstedt, Eißel, Holtorf-Lunsen, Horstedt, Morsum, Oenigstedt, Werder and Thedinghausen proper. Nearly all of them had been incorporated into Thedinghausen on 1 July 1972. Morsum, which incorporated on 1 July 1972 the villages of Ahsen-Oetzen, Morsum, Beppen and Wulmstorf, was incorporated into Thedinghausen on 1 November 2006.
