Irndorf Municipal Coat of Arms

Shield parted per fess, above Sable two axes Argent in saltire, beneath Argent three grain ears Vert on top of a triplemount Vert issuant from base.
The name of the municipality had been Irrendorf before, i.e. "village of madmen". Thus it was renamed on 19 April 1972, published in GABl 588/1972.
The axes are taken from the family arms of the Lords of Irrendorf, local rulers from 1194 until 1480. The grain ears are symbolising agriculture, the main business line. The tinctures black and white (silver) are those of the Lordship of Mühlheim, to which the village historically belonged.
