Tittmoning Coat of Arms

Shield Azure, a castle Argent masoned Sable with windows of the same, open port with portcullis Or, two towers with cone roofs Gules topped by balls Or, issuant between the towers a bishop Argent in half length portait with robe and mitre Or holding a crozier of the same by his sinister hand and giving blessings by his risen dexter hand.
Meaning:
The first seal with prints since 1299 displayed a hand holding a mitre in a shield parted per fess.The current pattern is known from seals since 1403. The bishop was sitting and since 1569 issuant. It is a representation of the Archbishop of Salzburg, who ruled the city. In the 16th and 17th century sometimes the bishop was replaced by a common man with hat and usual clothing. The background had been red until 1819 and was then replaced by the Bavarian colour blue. Between 1819 and 1836 the bishop was replaced by a grain sheef under sunbeams.
