Eggstätt Coat of Arms

Shield Azure, parted by two chevrons Argent in bend, on sinister chief a 6-point star Or.
Meaning:
The municipal arms had been the family arms of the Lords of Eggstätt. The existence of the kin is proven since the 12th century. The kin died out in the 16th century. The blue colour is symbolising the Eggstätt-Hemhofer lake district, having 17 lakes. It is an important touristic hotspot. The old arms from 1969 displayed four barrulets wavy Argent on a green shield, already displaying the same landscape. In 1980 the family arms of the Lords of Eggstätt were discovered iin the Baumburg Abbey. Since then the municipality applied for new arms referring to the Eggstätt kin.
