Röttenbach Coat of Arms

Shield Argent parted by a bend wavy Gules, in sinister chief a crozier Sable, in dexter base a cross patty Sable cotised of Argent and Sable.
Meaning:
The current municipality was established in 1975 by a merger of Röttenbach proper and Mühlstetten including Oberbreitenlohe and Unterbreitenlohe. The crozier is taken from the arms of the Bishopric of Eichstäätt, to which Mühlstetten, Oberbreitenlohe and Unterbreitenlohe belonged since the 14th century. The cross is alluding to the Teutonic Order and its Ellingen Commandery, which was based in Röttenbach since the 13th century until 1803. The red bend wavy is a canting element, as the name of the municipality means "red creek".
