Bannewitz Coat of Arms

Shield parted per pall reversed, above right Argent a tower Argent fimbriated Vert with spire and windows Vert, above left Argent an eradicated oak Vert, beneath Vert three crosslets Argent in pall flanked by three 6-point stars of the same.
Meaning:
The tower is a rpresentation of the Malakow Tower, being part of the local mine. The oak is symbolising nature and representing the former municipality of Possendorf. The charge in base is taken from the arms of the Schill family and honouring Ferdinand von Schill, leader of a militia of volunteers fighting against the French occupants. Schill died in action near Stralsund in 1809.
