Hauzenberg Coat of Arms

Shield Gules a wolf rampant Argent.
Meaning:
The wolf displays the arms of the Bishopric of Passau and is based on the seal of the bishopric. In order to distinguish the municipal arms from those of the bishopric and other municipalities, the arms were displayed in counterchanged tinctures since the 19th century. A claim from 1835, the wolf would be on a blue shield, is wrong. Hauzenberg was established by forest clearance, gained the title of a market town in 1539 and of a city in 1978.
