Schirmitz Coat of Arms

Shield parted per pale, at dexter Gules a sinister facing lion rampant issuant Or, at sinister Argent a dragon rampant issuant Gules; chief parted per pale, at dexter Argent a fess Azure, at sinister Azure.
Meaning:
The dexter part of the chief displays the family arms of the Landgraves of Leuchtenberg, as the village belonged to their landgraviate until the 17th century. The sinister facing lion is taken from the arms of the Kastner family, to which Landgrave Georg Ludwig of Leuchtenberg donated the Schirmitz Estate in 1590. Ludwig of Karg sold the estate in 1772 to the Cistercian Waldsassen Nunnery. The dragon is a differentiation of the arms of the nunnery. The tinctures silver and blue on the sinister half (incl. chief) are symbolising that the area belonged to the Electorate of Bayern since 1650.
