Hausen Coat of Arms

Shield Sable parted by a centred cross chequered of Or and Gules and superimposing a sword flambant Argent in bend sinister, on dexter chief a 6-spokes wheel Argent, on sinister base an oak leaf with acorn Argent.
Meaning:
The chequered cross is taken from the arms of the Counts of Ingelheim, who succeeded the Echter of Mespelbrunn kin. The later died out in 1665 and the former are name givers of a local forest. The wheel is representing the Archbishopric of Mainz, which ruled the area until 1803. Oak and acorn are representing the Spessart, a range of low wooded mountains. The sword is an attribute of St. Michael, the local patron saint.
