It is a vertical 7-stripes banner with yellow-red-white-red-white-red-yellow with ratio approx. 1:1:4:3:4:1:1. The coat of arms is shifted to the top.

Coat of Arms

Shield Gules, a bend wavy Argent charged with sfive black wavx lines, flanked by two oak leaves Or.
Meaning:
The wavy bend symbolises the Fulda river and is thus a canting symbol. The five small black lines symbolise the five former pre-1970 municipalities. The two oak leaves are symbolising the Reinhardswald forest.
The arms were approved on 20 June 1974.
