It is a green-white-green vertical triband with ratio of stripes approx. 1:4:1. The coat of arms is shifted to the top within the central stripe.

Coat of Arms

Shield parted per fess fir-tree topped of Argent and Vert, in base a Maltese cross Argent, chief crenelly Azure.
Meaning:
The arms are representing a blue sky over the embattled wall of Kesterburg castle (nowadays Christenberg). Beneath the castle are the green treetops of firs and spruces of the name giving Buchwald forest. The Maltese cross is representing Wiesenfeld village, which was established in 1238 as a commandery of the Order of the Knights of St. John.
