Philippsburg Coat of Arms

Shield parted by a pallet Argent, at dexter Azure a throughout cross faceted Argent, at sinister Azure a fleur de lis Argent.
Meaning:
The Bishops of Speyer acquired the village Udenheim in 1338. It got its current name in 1623 by Bishop Philipp Cristoph of Sötern, who fortified the village. The oldest seal from the 15th century already displayed the cross as arms of the bishopric, the fleur de lis and a circumscription "Udenheim bei Speyer". Some say, the fleur de lis is taken from the arms of Bishop Lambert (1364 - 1371). More likely it is an attribute of St. Mary, patron saint of the church and the bishopric. The first seal with the current name is from 1623. The white pallet was added eventually after 1971, as the arms with two blue quarters didn't match heraldic rules.
