Coat of Arms

Shield Or, a bar wavy Azure charged with two fish najant Argent finned Gules, in chief a lion passant guardant Gules armed Azure, in base a cogwheel Gules.
Meaning:
Weilrod was established on 1 August 1972, when the former municipalities of Emmershausen, Hasselbach, Niederlauken, Oberlauken, Rod an der Weil und Weilnau were conjoined. Before on 1 December 1970 the municipalities of Altweilnau, Finsternthal, Mauloff, Neuweilnau and Riedelbach had merged voluntarily and formed Weilnau municipality. It was the same with Rod an der Weil on 31 December 1971, when Cratzenbach, Gemünden and Winden joined Rod an der Weil voluntarily. The name of the current municipality was formed from syllables of former commune's names. The lion probably is a modification of the lion of the Counts of Diez. The bar wavy is representing little Weil River. The cogwheel is symbolising industries.
