Sankt Oswald-Riedlhütte Coat of Arms

Renaissance shield parted per fess, above Azure two axes Argent in saltire under a glass goblet of the same, beneath Or on the central peak of a triplemount Vert a raven statant Sable holding an annulet Argent by his beak.
Meaning:
The raven is an attribute of St. Oswald, name giver and patron saint of one village of the municipality. The raven had already been part of the arms of the Sankt Oswald Provostry, which belonged to the Benedictine Niederalteich Monastery between 1581 and 1803. The triplemount is taken from the arms of the monastery. The axes are alluding to forest clearance in the Medieval and to the importance of forestry. The goblet is symbolising the production of glass, which was started around 1500 by Duke Georg the Rich of Bayern-Landshut. The name Riedlhütte is alluding to Georg Riedl, who led the local glass kiln in the 16th century. The tinctures blue and white are those of Bayern. The municipality adopted the current name in 1979.
