Kirchehrenbach Coat of Arms

Shield Azure with base Gules, charged with a fess wavy Argent, issuant from base a mount Argent, topped by a church of the same with roofs Gules.
Meaning:
Mount and church are a representation of the chapel dedicated to St. Walpurga, called Walberla by the local people. On top of the Ehrenbürg, a local mountain. The existence of the chapel is proven since 1300. Subjects of adoration are the statues of the female saint from the 16th century and of two apostles from the 17th century. A pilgrimage to the chapel developed, which finally took place every year on 1 May. The pattern appeared first on a seal from 1790 with two additional angels on both sides of the church and the date "1790". In 1836 the municipality applied for an approval of that seal as local coat of arms, which probably had been granted. The angels were omitted probably in 1968. The colours red and white are those of the Archbishopric of Bamberg, the former sovereign.
