Buchdorf Coat of Arms

Shield parted by a pale chequered of Gules and Argent, at dexter Argent a beech leaf in pale, at sinister Azure a fish haurient Argent.
Meaning:
The chequered pale is reminding on the Cistercian Kaisheim Abbey, which had been the most important manorial lord. The colours blue and white are those of the Wittelsbach kin. Buchdorf belonged to their Lordship of Pfalz-Neuburg between 1554 and 1618, when it avowed itself to the Protestant confession. The leaf of a beech (German: Buche) is a canting element. The fish is the attribute of St. Ulrich of Augsburg, the local patron saint.
