Bernau Coat of Arms

Shield Argent with base Vert, issuant from base an oak Vert acorned Or, superimposed by a bear passant sable armed and tongued Gules, in chief an impending eagle Gules armed and tongued Or with cloverstems Or on his wings.
Meaning:
Bernau is located in the northeast of Berlin (approx. 20,000 inhabitants). The arms are based on the oldest seal of the city, known since 1347. The eagle is the eagle of Brandenburg, the bear is a canting element. The tree originally was a linden tree and is either a symbol of justice, or is representing the forests in the area.
