Karlstein Coat of Arms

Shield parted per fess wavy, above Azure parted by a Dettingen cross Argent, beneath Argent an atom model Azure with core Gules.
Meaning:
Karlstein was established in 1975 by a merger of Dettenheim and Großwelzheim. The so called Dettingen Cross, four cross bars ending in a diamond charged with a Tau cross, can be found in the local parish church, dedicated to St. Hippolytus. In Großwelzheim had been the very first German nuclear power station, represented by the atom model. It started business in 1960 and was shut down in 1985. The wavy line of partition is representing the Main River.

The arms were approved on 13 November 1977 by district governor (Regierungspräsident) of Unterfranken.
