Overview

The Department of Quindío was formally established through "Ley 2 del 7 de Febrero de 1966" (Law 2 of February 7, 1966, https://www.suin-juriscol.gov.co/viewDocument.asp?id=1556911) approved and issued on January 19, 1966 to be enacted on July 1, 1966.

The flag is green-yellow-crimson.
From www.quindio.gov.co: "Tres franjas iguales en su dimensión, colocadas en forma vertical, con los colores verde, amarillo y púrpura."

According to www.quindio.gov.co, the colour of Quindío are green, red and crimson. The crimson represents the colour of matured coffee grains, ready for harvest. Green stand for vegatation, particulary coffee plantations. Yellow/gold represents departments share in national economy. The Flag was designed by Solita Lozano de Gómez.
