Flag

Information about the flag is not known, but its symbolism can be inferred. The flag of Sumapaz is a horizontal triband of blue-white-green. Green is obviously for its nature; white perhaps representing peace or the landscape dominated by frailejones; and blue for its many waterways. In the center is a golden disc which might represent the sun; over it is a triangular emblem outlined in black, having in its white border the text SUMAPAZ above; to the sides LOCALIDAD and RURAL D.C. [RURAL LOCALITY, CAPITAL DISTRICT]. At the bottom appears to be a frailejon in blue. In the inner area of the emblem, a bird (Black-chested buzzard-eagle) soars in the sky over the hills of the landscape; on one of these three hills, to the left an agricultural field is found. A river cuts across to the bottom, with a tree seen to its side to represent the same environment.
