Description of the Flag

A rising east-west diagonal triband, green-blue-green, with yellow borders between fields, with the municipal arms in the centre in a white disk.

The flag of Nova Itaberaba is prescribed by Municipal Law No. 8 promulgated on 5 March 1993.

Article 1.
The flag of the municipality of Nova Itaberaba shall be rectangular, obeying the following features and colors.
The municipal flag of Nova Itaberaba is composed of four colors, the colors of the national flag and of the municipal coat of arms included.
Green is represented by two opposed scalene triangles, one in the flag's upper part, the other in the lower part. Their hypotenuses, bases and heights shall have the same dimensions. Green represents agriculture, reforestation and preservation of the natural environment.
Yellow is represented by two parallel diagonal stripes of the same dimensions, bordered by the green triangles and by a sea blue stripe, superimposed in the center by a white circle. Yellow symbolizes the resources of the municipality.

Blue is represented by a diagonal stripe equivalent to 43% of the flag's width, with a white circle superimposed in the center. Blue symbolizes Nova Itaberaba's sky and fresh air.
White is represented by a white circle, in diameter 55% of the flag's width. The circle is charged with the municipal coat of arms. White is a symbol of peace, friendship, purity and religious spirit.

The municipal flag of Nova Itaberaba shall have the same proportions as the national flag. [...]

Article 1.
The municipal coat of arms of Nova Itaberaba has the design, details, colors and meaning as explained in the following.

A red scroll with "29-06 Nova Itaberaba - SC 1991" in black letters, showing the date of emancipation of the municipality and its name, which means "Shining stone" in Tupi-Guarani.
Starting from the shield's lower edge, on the right, a maize plant with two cobs, and, on the left, a bean plant with ripe pods, representing the main sources of income of the municipality. The green and yellow colors emphasize agricultural products.
The shield shall be internally divided into three rectangles. In the central part of the lower rectangle, a semi-circular gray cogwheel, symbolizing industry. On the left, in green and brown, a branch with two ripe oranges, symbolizing the potential represented by citriculture.
In the central rectangle, on a yellow background, on the left, white head of bovines and pigs, on the right, white heads of chickens and turkeys, which symbolize animal breeding in Nova Itaberaba. In the center of the rectangle, a circle inscribing the main mineral resource composed of gems called amethysts, found in deposits and in river Chapecó. The gems are Itaberaba's namesake.
In the upper rectangle, on the left, in brown and red, a tractor plowing the fertile soil and on the right, in yellow, brown and green, tobacco plants representing the municipality's main crop.
In the center of the upper rectangle, a yellow arrow represented by a triangle, pointing downwards to the circle inscribing the gems that gave their name to the municipality.
Above the shield, a crown surmounted by four gray towers, referring to the force obtained by people's commitment and dedication to work. The four gates characterize liberty and equality as citizen's rights and duties.
