The municipality of Agrolândia (10,711 inhabitants in 2018; 20,755 ha) is 
located 275 km west of Florianópolis.
Agrolândia was colonized in 1911 by 
brothers Ricardo and Domingos Alves Paes and their families, coming from Lages. 
The Alves family eventually settled there, the place being renamed to Serra dos 
Alves (Alves' Mountain). The first German immigrants - Otto Zwicker, Otto and 
Leopoldo Prochnow, and João and Eduardo Will - settled in 1917, followed a few 
years later by Italian families coming from Rodeio and Rio dos Cedros.
The 
district of Trombudo Alto was established within Rio do Sul by Municipal Law No. 
301 promulgated on 1 May 1957 and validated by State Law No. 308 promulgated on 
29 August 1957. The district was transferred to the municipality of Trombuda 
Central by State Law No. 348 promulgated on 21 June 1958.
The municipality of 
Agrolândia was established by State Law No. 831 promulgated on 12 June 1962 and 
inaugurated on 25 July 1962.

The flag of Agrolândia is prescribed by Municipal Law No. 509 promulgated on 
23 February 1987.
Article 1.
The municipal flag has the following 
heraldic description: Composed of three fields of equal size, placed vertically, 
the first, at hoist, red, the second, white with the municipal arms, and the 
third, blue.
Article 2.
The flag shall have the following 
specifications.
I - The flag's width shall be 20 units.
II - The flag's 
length shall be 28 units.

The coat of arms of Agrolândia is 
prescribed by Municipal Law No. 508 promulgated on 23 February 1987.
Article 1.
The arms of the municipality have the following blazoning.
An 
Iberian shield with yellow background. In upper canton, a stylized greater 
half-cogwheel inscribing stylized representations of a cow's head, a pig, three 
hens and a plow; in upper canton, a stylized lesser cogwheel inscribing the 
stylized representation of a factory. In lower canton, stylized representations 
of men and women clad in traditional costume. A yellow mural crown and a yellow 
scroll. The stylized men and women clad in traditional costume shall be in odd 
number.
Appendix.
Heraldic elucidation of the coat of arms of 
Agrolândia.
Shield: So-called Iberian, rounded-off in base.
Mural 
crown: With four open towers, the private and consecrated emblem of 
municipalities and their administrative autonomy.
Motto: "AGROLÂNDIA" on a 
scroll.
Dates: "1916" and "1962", the years of colonization and 
municipality's inauguration, respectively.
Greater half-cogwheel: Inscribing 
stylized representations of a cow's head, a pig, three hens and a plow, which 
represent agriculture and breeding as the municipality's main sources of income.
Lesser cogwheel: Inscribing the stylized representation of a factory, which 
represents industry in the municipality.
Stylized representation of men and 
women: Clad in traditional costume and dancing, representing the inhabitants' 
traditions and folklore, also a tribute to the municipality's colonizers.

The flag of C.E. Serra dos Alves is divided red-blue according to the 
 descending diagonal, charged in the center with a white disc featuring the 
 school's emblem. The motto "Educando para a via" reads "Educating for life".
