Municipality

The municipality of Tucunduva (5,883 inhabitants in 2010; 18,081 ha) is located 500 km north-west of Rio Grande do Sul.

Tucunduva was established in 1920 by João Tucunduva, who came from Bento Gonçalves with his family. The settlement was organized in 1926. Tucunduva was elevated to the 7th district of Santa Rosa on 19 April 1934.
The municipality of Tucunduva was established on 11 September 1959 and inaugurated on 31 December 1959.
