About the Flag

The municipality of Rosário do Ivaí (4,595 inhabitants in 2021; 37,125 ha) is located 400 km north-west of Curitiba.

Rosário do Ivaí was named for a plant common in the region, known as biurá, whose ripe fruit was once used to make rosaries.
The district of Rosário was established within the municipality of Grande Rios by State Law No. 7,106 promulgated on 17 November 1979, separating from Rio Branco, to be elevated a municipality by State Law No. 8,399 promulgated on 30 October 1986, which was inaugurated on 1 January 1989. The municipality was renamed to Rosário do Ivaí by State Law No. 8,542 promulgated on 6 June 1987.

The flag of Rosário do Ivaí is white with three yellow-green-red thin diagonal stripes running from upper hoist to lower fly, charged in the center with a white square inscribing the municipal coat of arms.
