January 2022The municipality of Bom Sucesso do Sul (3,264 inhabitants in 2019; 19,587 ha)
is located 460 km south-west of Curitiba.
Bom Sucesso do Sul was settled
in 1929 by José da Silva, after he had discovered a source of water rich in
sodium chlorine. The place was known as Lambedor (Licker), referring to animals
attracted by the salted source.
The district of Bom Sucesso, named for its
patron saint, Our Lady of Good Accomplishment, was established, as part of the
municipality of Pato Branco, by State Law No. 4,859 promulgated on 10 October
1983, to be elevated a municipality in 1993. The municipality was renamed to
Boim Sucesso do Sul to prevent confusion with the already existing municipality
of Bom Sucesso.

The flag of Bom Sucesso do Sul is prescribed by Municipal Law No. 35
promulgated in 1993.
Article 1.
The flag of the municipality of Bom
Sucesso do Sul, pushed by the municipal administration via the Department of
Education, Culture and Sports and designed under the coordination of
Enciclopédia Simbológica Municipalista Paranaense – ESIMPAR, shall be
rectangular, in proportions 14 units in width on 20 units in length, in
compliance with Article No. 5 of Federal Law No. 5,700 promulgated in 1971, and
with the following characteristics.
a) The flag is composed of two equal
fields shaped like a scalene right-angled triangle, the upper blue and the lower
white, separated by two stripes of 2.5 units each superimposed to the triangles,
the upper one yellow and the lower one green, running from the lower right to
the upper left angle.
b) In the upper field's center are featured the visible
stars forming the Southern Cross constellation, the greater of 1 unit in
diameter and the lesser of 0.5 unit in diameter, all argent (white).

Not mentioned in the description, the writing "Bom Sucesso do
Sul" is displayed in the white stripe, parallel to the diagonal stripes.
