Flag Description

The Japanese American National Museum notates the life of Japanese immigrants to the United States, their internment during WW2 and also what life they lived after it.

The flag of the museum is similar to flags we see all across Japan, a symbol/crest (the JANM calls it a mark) on a monocolored background. In the case of the JANM, the symbol was in white and placed on a purple background. The symbol, which is two crashing waves, denotes the meeting of the East (Japan) and West (US). The mark can be seen at www.janm.org/dj/media//images/icons/membership.gif
