Description of the flag

The Oregon State Police is the primary state-level law enforcement agency for the state of Oregon. It is responsible for enforcing all criminal laws in the state, and is often called upon to provide support to local law enforcement agencies. Unlike the vast majority of other state police agencies across the US, the focus of the Oregon State Police is not traffic enforcement and highway safety, but rather criminal investigation and support to local agencies. It is also the only state police organization charged with monitoring the security of the state lottery system. Established in 1931, the Oregon State Police have several subordinate divisions, including criminal investigation, fish and wildlife, Oregon State Fire Marshall, Oregon Emergency Management, and the Oregon Boxing and Wrestling Commission.

The flag features a light blue field with the silhouette of the state of Oregon in darker blue centered. Upon the silhouette are the words "EST. 1931" in gold lettering. A darker blue ribbon arches over the state silhouette, the ribbon bearing the words "OREGON STATE POLICE" in gold capital letters. Another darker blue ribbon, this one arranged in a three-part diagonal below the state silhouette, bears the agency's motto – "PRIDE," "LOYALTY," and "DEDICATION."
