Flag used at sesquicentennial celebrations

[Former Flag of Jasper County, Iowa] image by António Martins-Tuválkin, 5 January 2011

Back in 2002, the Iowa State Association of Counties website hosted an account of each county's history, signed by its County Recorder, and illustrated with a black and white flag image. It is not clear whether these flag images were provided by the county administration or not.

Archived copies of the pages about Jasper County are still at web.archive.org/web/*/www.iowacounties.org/County+Info/History+Pages/jasper.htm and web.archive.org/web/*/www.iowacounties.org/County+Info/Flags/Jasper.htm. It is a ~2:3 horizontal unequal (sort of) triband of light (white?) and dark stripes, with lettering and a large emblem/logo. The upper stripe takes more than half of the flag height, the middle (darker) stripe being smaller and the bottom one even more.

The main lettering reads "Jasper County" along the top, set in black (?) serifed capitals (typeface seems to be Clarendon Back); the bottom stripe is divided horizontally by a thin dark line and on the upper part of it, lettering reading "a rich tradition.....a bright future" in bold casual sans serif letters (typeface seems to be DomCasual). On the middle stripe and expanding into the upper stripe a drawing showing a road extending toward a setting sun and, large in foreground, wild flowers and grain.

According to the booklet [u9s03b] (page 7: 2nd and 3rd photos of the 1st row), the flag is indeed white with a dark green background stripe, while the emblem consists of elements line drawn in black some filled with orange - namely the sun disc, the flowers' centers, and the butterfly wings.
