The flag of the BoU is a heraldic banner based on the shield from its Coat of Arms.  At the hoist is a vertical yellow stripe containing three light bulbs.  The fly is divided horizontally into equal red and black stripes over which is superimposed weighing scales in white.

The Honey Bee crest symbolises industry and the accumulation of wealth. Honey, its product, represents liquid gold.  The shield represents the security guaranteed to national financial operations with the scales being symbolic of monetary stability.  The supporters are the Uganda Kob which are taken from the national arms and represent the nation.  Finally, the coins at the base represent money.
