About the Flag

It is a fairly typical Portuguese communal flag, with the coat of arms centred on a plain red background (village rank).

The arms are Argent a fess Gules supported by a pale of the Same and in chief two acorns Vert leaved and stemmed of the Same upright and set in fess. Mural crown argent with three visible towers (commune rank) and white scroll reading in black upper case letters "LANDEIRA".
Meaning:
"Landeira" means something like "acorn place" ("lande" = archaism for "acorn"; current "bolota" and "glande"), the coat of arms being therefore canting.

Presentation of Landeira

Landeira Commune is one of the two communes of the Vendas Novas municipality (q.v.). It had 767 inhabitants in 2001 and covers 69,64 km².
