It is a typical Portuguese communal flag, with the coat of arms centred on a field quartered of yellow and green.

Coat of arms

Shield Vert with base wavy of Argent and Azure, issuant from base a stork vigilant Argent flanked by two corn cobs Or, in central chief a mitre Argent ornamented Gules. Mural crown Argent with four visible towers (town rank) and white scroll with inscription in black initials "SALREU".

Salreu Commune is one of the five communes of the Estarreja municipality (q.v.); it had 3815 inhabitants in 2011 and covers 16.6 km².
