Coat of arms

[Bugalhos commune CoA] image by Sérgio Horta, 2 Aug 2010

The arms are Or an oak three leaved twig Vert with two acorns Argent garnished Sable and in chief a Marian crown Azure bejewelled Argent. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll reading "BUGALHOS" in black upper case letters.
Meaning:
"Bugalho" (pl. "bugalhos") means "gall", which are often mistaken for actual fruit; the acorns in the arms may thus be canting; the Marian crown probably stands for the local Catholic Parish (from which the commune derived from and may still be conterminous to) patron, Our Lady of Graces.
António Martins-Tuválkin, 2 Aug 2010

Flag and arms adopted and published in the official journal Diário da República: III Série on 11 July 2001
