Coat of Arms

[COA of Dønna] image by Tomislav Šipek, 04 February 2016

Blazon: Delt av gull og blått ved virvelsnitt.
In English: Or a schnecke azure from base sinister to dexter. (See comments under Andøy).
Approved by the royal resolution of 29 May 1981 after a drawing by Odd Fjordholm. [c2j87]
The design is canting, since the name derives from "dønning" - swelling, as in swelling sea rushing toward the coast.
