Blazon: På blå grunn ein gull stolpe laga med duestjertsnitt. In English: Azure a pale dowetailed or.
Approved by the royal resolution of 30 August 1991. after a drawing by Jarle Skuseth. (cf. http://www.stordal.kommune.no/artikkel.aspx?MId1=250&AId=192)
The local regulations require the flag to be in the ratio 16:22 (i.e. 8:11)
The dovetail line of partition in the arms symblizes the dovetail joint used in carpentry to join pieces of wood. It also symbolizes unity and solidarity.
