N.V. Koninklijke Java-China-Paketvaart Lijnen

N.V. Koninklijke Java-China-Paketvaart Lijnen, Amsterdam (Royal Interocean Lines) - Houseflag described as:
"A rectangular flag divided horizontally with red over blue and a white diamond in the centre bearing a gold crown. Red, white and blue colours are the same as those of the national flag of the Netherlands. The flag is made of cotton and it is machine sewn with a printed design. A rope and clip are attached."

"On 19 Jan 1903 Mr. B.E.Roys proposed a houseflag: "A white lozenge with the letters J.C.J.L with halfrectangle of red towards the hoist and blue". This design was adopted, but changed after a few months, to relate it to the Dutch flag: top half rectangles of red and bottom blue. However the Dutch flag had nothing to do with the original design: the founding companies KPM (with white diamond in red) and KNSM (white diamond in blue) had their colors on the JCJL flag. The royal crown in both flags was replaced by the intials of the new company.
The houseflag with the initials was used 1902-1947.
In 1970 the JCPL became Royal as KJCPL and became a working firm for the "Nederlandsche Scheepvaart-Unie" (NSU) (1947-1977) (since 1970 with a wimpel quartered lightblue and white, over all a red St. George's Cross), during which time it used the flag with the crown."
In 1947 the Java-China-Japan Lijn (based in Amsterdam) merged with the KPM-Buitenlijnen (KPM Outward Lines) to form the Koninklijke Java-China-Paketvaartlijnen N.V. (Royal Interocean Lines) and adopted the flag with the crown.

The old flag had JCJL instead of the crown.

JCPL

The initials "JCJL" stand for 'N.V. Java-China-Japan Lijn', active 1901-1947 according to this Kombuispraat page, about half way down:
This is the 1947 "JCPL" variant found on that page: Martin Heere's work.

The Java-Pacific Lijn (1915-1923) had a red over blue bicolor with over all a white diamond charged with intertwined (?) black letters "JPL".
