Overview

Kretinga (Kretinga District) - on a silver field the crowned Virgin Mary with the infant Jesus, crown is golden, dress is purpure, cloak is blue, open flesh is proper, on free edges a wide blue bordure framed on both sides by narrow golden stripes, on bordure 7 golden 8-pointed stars. Flag proportions 10:11, fringe is silver, finial is a golden crown and silver bands, staff is dark grey. The charge of arms granted in 1609 attributes Blessed Virgin Mary as the holy patron of the local church and of the city.
